Mumbai to Goa - Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Mumbai to Goa cab ride take?
The journey typically takes 9 to 11 hours via NH-66, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The route passes through several ghat sections and small towns. We recommend starting early morning for a daytime arrival in Goa.
Is the Mumbai-Goa highway safe to drive?
The NH-66 is a well-travelled route and generally safe. Some ghat sections have sharp curves that require careful driving, especially during monsoons. Our drivers are experienced with this route and take all necessary precautions.
Can I take a break during the journey?
Absolutely. The route has several excellent stops for meals and refreshments. Popular stops include Chiplun for Konkani food, Ratnagiri for alphonso mangoes (in season), and numerous highway restaurants along the way. We plan 2-3 comfort breaks during the trip.
Is the NH-66 or the NH-48 route better for Mumbai to Goa?
The NH-66 coastal route is more scenic and slightly shorter but takes longer due to winding roads. The NH-48 via Pune and Kolhapur is a wider highway and can be faster. We default to NH-66 but can take NH-48 upon request.
Should I avoid this route during monsoons?
The monsoon season (June to September) makes the Konkan coast incredibly beautiful but also brings heavy rainfall and occasional landslides on ghat sections. Travel is still possible but journey times may increase. We advise caution and flexible scheduling during this period.
Can I book a one-way drop to Goa?
Yes, RiccoRide offers one-way drops from Mumbai to Goa (and vice versa) at competitive rates. One-way fares are considerably lower than round-trip charges, making it an economical option if you plan to return by flight or train.
